Work is underway ... another step forward

After many delays, disappointments and difficulties, including theft of the original metal shed kit, work has finally started on the construction of the concrete slab to support the shed at the BNI.
When work started nearly a year ago asbestos contamination was identified at the site and work had to stop and the site remediated. Once that was completed earlier this year, HeritageNSW required DSMG complete a s60 heritage application to approve the work proposed, including submission of a Statement of Heritage Impacts.

We are delighted to report that approval for the shed was given, new contracts have been signed, and work began on June 16.
Contractors have now completed the slab, and work will soon begin to install a security fence around the work site. Delivery of the shed is anticipated in early August. Keep an eye out for progress updates and photographs as work proceeds.
The shed will offer storage for equipment and materials, particularly for the work on ecological restoration and healing of the BNI, and a covered area with a view across the BNI for shelter from the elements for people visiting and working on the site.
We are looking forward to welcoming Mob back to site to celebrate when this project is finished.
We are working towards a meeting to update community on a range of issues - including the Richmond Road Upgrade Project on Sunday morning August 17. That will be followed by a lunch and a wider community workshop on weed identification and management and a working bee to remove weeds across the site in the afternoon. You will need to register separately for each of these sessions and there will be an update with registration details available soon.
